When your customers ask an AI instead

More people ask an assistant before they visit a website. This is how they get your answer rather than a guess.

What happens without it

Ask an assistant about a shop’s returns and it does its best with whatever it can find: an old blog post, a page belonging to a competitor, something that merely sounds right. You never see the question, and you never get to correct the answer.

What Alvrun does

Every business gets a link that lets an assistant ask its support agent directly. Same knowledge as the chat on your site, same rule about never guessing. If the answer is not in what you have taught it, it says so and sends the person to your support page instead of inventing something.

The answer comes back with its sources, so the assistant can show where each part came from rather than presenting a summary of the internet as your policy.

How to switch it on

It is already on. Open Settings and your connection link is there next to your website snippet, ready to paste, and the toggle beside it turns the whole thing off again.

Wherever an assistant asks for a custom connector or an MCP server, the link is the only thing it needs. Settings has the exact steps for Claude, ChatGPT and anything else that speaks it, with your own link already filled in.

You can try ours before you have one of your own. Point an assistant at https://alvrun.com/api/mcp and ask it about Alvrun, or have it look up any business on alvrun.com by their web address.

The technical name for it

The link speaks a standard called MCP, the Model Context Protocol, which is how assistants connect to knowledge outside themselves. You never need to know that to use it. It is just the answer to give if a developer asks you what it is.

What it will not do

It only reads. An assistant can ask questions and get the answers you have published, and that is all. It cannot change what your agent knows, read your conversations, or reach anything about a particular customer.

One thing genuinely works differently here. On your own site, a question it cannot answer becomes a handover: you get an email, and your reply lands back in that customer’s chat. Through an assistant there is no thread to reply into and nobody is emailed, so it says plainly that this one needs a person and gives them your support page. The handover happens there, if they follow it.

There is also a daily limit for each business, so nobody can run up your bill through it.

On being found this way

Alvrun is listed in the official MCP registry, which is where assistants and the tools around them look for services like this. Someone still chooses to connect it. Assistants do not quietly start speaking for your business, and we would not want them to.

What has changed is that being found no longer depends on you sending somebody a link.

If you want to tell people

You do not have to do anything with the link. It works whenever someone connects it.

If your customers already work with AI assistants, which is more likely if you sell to other businesses, it is worth putting somewhere they will see it: your contact page, the foot of your help centre, the signature on your support emails. Something like:

Use an AI assistant? You can connect it to our support and ask us anything directly.

If that does not sound like your customers, skip it. Nothing is lost.
